Happy belated Halloween, SlapSadders! Hope you got lots of great tricks and treats from strangers this past weekend!
Speaking of treats, I’m happy to say that we’ve got a little something scrumptious ourselves! No, it’s not another Scratch ‘n’ Imagine release – but don’t worry, we’re still working on that whole episode (teaser: fear, uncertainty, doubt, denial). This little treat is SlapSad’s brand-new single, which we’re calling The Frying Pan!
Inspired by the famous 1987 campaign by Partnership for a Drug-Free America, The Frying Pan aims to strip away all metaphor and leave only the pure literalism that really made This Is Your Brain on Drugs sing. Nobody quit drugs because they thought their brain was frying – they were just hungry, so they quit drugs to go fry up some delicious eggs. Then they went back to their drugs like a normal person. At least that’s what I would’ve done. Not that I was ever a druggie, so I wouldn’t know.
The Frying Pan stars several very basic shapes and paths, each one professionally colored and struck to bring you simple images of an egg, first uncracked and then frying in a pan. The text, both front and back, is delivered to you in beautiful script by the cursive Mistral font.
Astute consumers will note that this postcard can be interpreted as a solution to the classic “Which Came First” dilemma. Obviously, the egg came before the fried egg. Not sure why people are so confused about that one.
Anyhow, I’d say it’s about time to make some eggs! The Frying Pan is here to totally change your life. Any questions?
* Editor’s note: Man, I’m hungry.
