SlapSad’s fourth collection is finally here! It took longer than expected, but today I’m happy to introduce Quotemanteaux, a delicious spread of homemade smashed quotatoes.
Each Quotemanteau features a unique grungy background. The font, both recto and verso, is brought to you by Deutsche Uncialis, a beautiful tip of the hat to medieval manuscript lettering.
The premise is simple – combine two original quotes to create a “quotemanteau.” It’s like a portmanteau, but for quotes instead of words. So, for example, the classic saying “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” pairs with rock band Survivor’s “eye of the tiger” lyric to become “Beauty is in the eye of the tiger.” Ridiculous? Cryptic? Sinister? You decide!
Here are the six compound sources responsible for the Quotemanteaux:
- Anonymous Survivor
- Thumper Queen
- Nike Proverb*
- Jurassic Apollo 13
- Jean-Paul James
- Hamlet Twain
